Default Analysis services and DB on the same cluster - 04-16-2004 , 11:12 AM

Hello:
I am architecting the SQL server for high-
availability. Can I put an active/active 2-node cluster
for two instances - one for database and the other for
OLAP (Analysis services)? or Can I use one instance
(active/passive) in a 2-node cluster both DB and OLAP
(Analysis services) exist in the same instance?

Thanks

Analysis Services does support MSCS clustering but only active-passive.
See http://support.microsoft.com/?id=308023
Hope that helps.

Hello Dave:
Thanks for the response. I am a little bit confused when you
say "not MSCS cluster" and then "active-passive". Can you explain a
little bit more? Actaully, I would like to know whether I can use OLAP
(Analysis services) as another instance of SQL server. Having said that,
I would like to know whether this instance can be hosted on the same
2-node cluster of SQL server database.

Thanks again
