Default Accessing Cubes over the web - 01-06-2004 , 11:36 AM

We have a requirement to create cubes using Microsoft Analysis Services and access it using Pivot Table (or some other tool) over the internet. Has anyone done this or knows how to go about doing it? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

MJ,

People posted the Microsoft version of the OLAP thin client at (works
great on smaller cubes):

For a thick client and that uses .NET (works with bigger cubes):

http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/is...P/default.aspx

Enjoy,

Phin

Thanks d d for your response. We have already tried the thick client solution provided on msdn. It works great over the internal LAN. But can not access the cube when accessing from outside through the internet. SQL Server, Analysis Services and IIS are all installed on the same Windows 2000 server which has an external IP address. Any pointers??????

We are using SQL Server Developer Edition. As per Microsoft, functionally it is same as Enterprise Edition with different license requirements.

I would look at the section called "Configuring the OLAP Source for HTTP
Access":

http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/is...P/default.aspx

I believe the datasource in your web.config file
needs to have your domain.

Hope this helps!
