Default Accessing Cube Problem from remote location using DSL - 08-11-2004 , 07:43 PM

Hi,

I have setup of MS AS and Office 2002 (Excel 2002) for browsing cube in my
office. In office every body is login with Win user ID and have access
authority to CUBE. So all user are able to access cube from Excel in office.

My Problem, When users are trying to access CUBE from home using login to
office network (users have VPN access and they are using DSL/Cable for login
to office Network) they are not able to access any cube even though they are
in ADMIN group on Server.

What Do I need to do to access cube from out side of office but still login
to office network? Can any one help?

Thanks
-Kris

Many times it is difficult to debug network configuration issues with
Analysis Services because network administrators are not very familar with
the technology. Thus I typically re-phrase the question. Temporarily create
a file share on the Analysis server only allowing read access to the
<domain>\Users group. This will force the same kind of authentication
processes that Analysis Services uses. If you are able to have your users
connect and read data from the file share; then they should be able to
connect and access Analysis Services. You are just re-defining the security
environment into one that they can deal with better.

I would contact your network administrator. Setting up a file share on the
server is a pretty common administrative function that they should be able
to help you with.
