Default very slow to oracle - 11-18-2003 , 12:12 PM

Hi,

Has anybody had experience using dts with oracle on
windows 2000 ?

We have sql 2000 on windows 2000 and oracle 9i on windows
2000.

Using dts to send data to oracle is extremely slow, coming
from oracle to sql is twice as fast, but still relatively
slow compared between transferring data between sql
servers.

Any idea on what would cause such a slowdown when copying
to oracle.

Regards,

Ned

Most probably the driver translations. I have heard other complaining that
it is slow also. An idea would be to Export to text file from the relevant
system and BULK load the data in on the other from the text file.

Thanks for your reply Allan.

I just want to clarify. I should export the data from sql
to an ascii file and then use the ORACLE BULK LOADER to
load the data into oracle. Or should I use dts to load
the ascii file into oracle.

Ned

Try both ways. I guess the former is the faster but testing is the name of
the game.
