Default Use format files in DTS - 07-24-2006 , 05:14 PM

Hi

I am new to DTS. I am creating a DTS package which imports data from a
text file to a table in the database. I need to define a format file. I
have alreay created the format file based on the destination columns in
the table.I just need to know away to use it in DTS.

Ex: Source file has values
ABCDEFGHIJ

Table
field1|Field2|Field3
ABC|DEFGH|IJ
I have created the format file with 3 columns of length 3,5, and 2
respectively.

I do not want to use the bulk insert with format file option.
This needs to be done in DTS as this is one of the few steps of my DTS.

Thanks

Hello aps,

Why do you need to use a Format file?

If you use the Transform Data task it does not require a format file.
