Default Up to date data in warehouse - 10-25-2004 , 05:12 AM

Normally this would be last night but what if you want it to be more
often....have someone tried this - and if so - how ?

a) real time olap
b) be sure to filter records so only new records is being pullled out .. and
scheduling this package more often than once a day .... how often ? per hour
and perhaps even when the user says so in the host system ?

Up to date to me means very little latency between the source(s) and the
warehouse

It all comes down to how must time you can afford to leave.

DTS is not good for Realtime
Replication is good for realtime
Rolap is good for realtime.

Host = Oracle = from BOL

Heterogeneous Publishers
SQL Server 2000 can subscribe to snapshot or transactional data replicated
from Oracle, DB2, Access, and other data sources. This allows companies that
are planning to deploy large databases or a data warehouse with SQL Server,
or Internet and intranet applications, to gain access to various sources of
data. That data can then be consolidated in SQL Server 2000 using
replication, and placed into a data mart, data warehouse, or
multidimensional database designed for SQL Server Analysis Services.

To implement snapshot or transactional replication published by
heterogeneous data sources to your SQL Server 2000 applications, configure
SQL Server with third-party software or using applications built with
SQL-DMO and the Replication Distributor Interface.
