Default Too many cols on fixed width! - 02-18-2004 , 02:59 PM

I'm importing a text file via DTS and getting a crazy problem.

It's failing on a record with "too many columns", even though I told it to
import as fixed width and specified no column markers.

Also, the column it is failing on looks very similar to the previous column.
I've even extracted the records before and after and told my editor
(UltraEdit) to replace all spaces with nothing, and checked what's left in
hex editor. There's nothing before or after.

Can someone please explain what could be going on? Is it anything to do with
having multiple record types in the file?

Sounds like at least one of your rows are too long or don't have proper line
feed terminators.
