this error started happening out of nowhere. i have no idea why. below
is the description of the DTS error, any clues?

The General network error says to me that you cannot connect to the SQL
Server. Check you server name in the connection, the port you server
uses, and the client network utility on the machine you run DTS on. Also
make sure name resolution is working if required.
