Default start/stop sql service agent (It did not work) - 08-18-2004 , 06:25 PM

Topic: How to start/stop sql service agent from sql server enterprise manager.

Hi,
I have two sql servers (sql 2000 + sp3 on win 2000 server+sp3).
from a client site, I have no problem to stop one of the service agent, but
not the other. I error I received is:
An error 5 - (Access is denied) occurred while performing this service
operation on the SQLServerAgent service. The message box title = Service
Control Failure

Yes, I have sa right to both of my sql servers.

BTW, how come under the general tab of the SQLServer Agent properties,
service startup account has been grayed out?

Thank you for your help.

Frank

You need Windows administrator rights on the machines as well to start and
stop services.
