Default SSIS package imports wrong number of data rows - 12-05-2005 , 03:10 AM

Hi,

I am observing a strange behaviour of an SSIS package I created:
- It reads from a comma separated {CR}{LF} line terminated flat file into a
SQL 2005 table.
- the file contains 19636 rows. When I run the package, there are no errors,
all rows get imported and a short at the imported data looks good.
Now the strange behaviour:
- when I remove the first line of the data file - the package still runs
without errors and says it imported 19635 rows
- when I look at the table in SQL server, only 7778 rows have been imported
and when I look at the imported data, there are rows which seem not to be
correct (data of several rows seems to be imported into one field).
Now my question: where does that problem come from? What could I do to
further track down my problem? I already had a closer look at the text file
(unicode encoded, but no special characters, all lines ending with a carriage
return line break, correct number of separators in the lines etc.)
The version of SQL 2005 I use is described below, I also tried a (probably)
newer version from MSDN I got on 19-Nov-2005.

Thanks in advance for any ideas,

Thomas

Hello,

I notice that you didn't use RTM version of SQL server 2005 which version
number is 9.00.1399.06. I suggest that you install RTM version and test it
again.

Hi Sophie,

thanks for the hint, I will try that as soon as possible and report my
experiences to the community (The version I posted was the one of my
developer machine, at a customers site we use 9.00.1399.00, but the problem
there occurs as well).

Best regards,

Thomas

Hello,

Thanks for update. If the issue still exists, please post here the sample
flat file, and the detailed steps to reproduce the issue. I will test it on
my side.
