We have a contract programmer who is writing an application using VB and DTS to hit a SQL database. He states that DTS allows us to have up to five (5) concurrent connections to the database without any SQL licenses. My understanding was that no matter how we hit the database (DTS or not) we need one of the following: a) Processor License b) Server Plus Device CAL license or c) Server Plus User CAL license. That only in the Processor License do we not need CALs and that the other two require a CAL for each connection period. That DTS is not a license in it self. Am I wrong??? Can anyone confirm which is true or point me to someone at MS who can? Thanks Don |

You are correct. You can find SQL Server licensing info and links at: http://www.microsoft.com/sql/howtobuy/default.asp -Sue On Wed, 6 Oct 2004 09:51:28 -0700, "Don" <dosmond (AT) comporium (DOT) net wrote: We have a contract programmer who is writing an application using VB and DTS to hit a SQL database.
