Default SQL 2000 SP4 - General network error?? - 10-09-2005 , 03:07 PM

Hi peeps,

Wondering if anyone can help me.

I have numerous SQL databases on a server which was SP4'd and then
upgraded to windows 2003. Since then the server has been inaccessible.
I get:

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] Named Pipes ACCESS DENIED

Now I do not know if its windows 2003 or SP4 issue as I did not test
the app after SP4 DOH!!!!

We have since moved the databases to a new server and a different error
has appeared on this one. BUT on this server it only has SP3a... Does
the SP4 modify the databases themselves, I have been told by the
Support company it does not but after appliying SP4 it asked me to
backup my new databases? The error on the new server is

Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] [DBNETLIB]General network error.
Check your network documentation.

Can anyone help?? The new server runs the SQL server and the app so is
pointing at localhost. Network seems fine and it really should not go
out on the network ( I have tried putting in server name rather
localhost)

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks
Colin...

Colin,

How is this a DTS issue? You may have better luck posting in the General
SQL area.
