Default Send Mail Task - MAPI Logon Failed - 11-16-2006 , 03:02 PM

Hello All,

I was trying to create a Send Mail task. The SQLServer service account runs
off of its own account. The SQLServer Agent also runs off of its own account.
I login with my network login id (Windows Authentication).

When I login to my workstation and create a DTS package with a send mail
task, it allows me to add the task and enter the email addresses.

However, when I RDP into the server, Open Enterprise Manager and create a
DTS package with a Send Mail task then it gives
the error "Error Source : Microsoft Data Transformation Package" "Error
Description : MAPI returned an error" after adding the task into the design
window.

When I click on the "Send Mail" task, I dont see any profile available. I
thought I would see the SQLServer Agent's profile here. When I click on the
"To" button I get the error "Error Description:Logon Failed:MapiLogonEx
Failed due to MAPI error 273: MAPI Logon failed"

I dont know why it works when I login from my workstation and why it does
not work when I RDP and login into the server.

Would anyone know why ? and how I can correct the error?

Thanks,
rgn

From my workstation (it does not give me an error here), I created a sample
Send Mail task and scheduled it. The Job fails with the following error :

Error string: Logon failed: MapiLogonEx Failed due to MAPI error 273: MAPI
Logon failed. Error source: Microsoft Data Transformation Services
(DTS) Package

Thanks,

I guess I understand why it works when I login into my workstation and use
the Send Mail task and why it does not work when I RDP into the server with
my account and try to add the Send Mail task.

When I RDP into the server, I login as myself and since my profile is not
defined on the server, SQLServer does not know what to do so the Send Mail
task gives an error.

When I schedule a package with Send Mail task that I created from my
workstation the Job fails because the Job gets executed by the SQL Agent but
the package has my profile which the server does not.

Since no one knows the SQLServer service and SQL Agent account password
except for my boss does that mean everytime I add a "Send Mail" task, I have
to get my boss log in for me and then add the task, save and schedule?

Thanks,
