Default Searching a DTS package - 07-14-2003 , 07:47 AM

Hi all,
I am a relative newbie to DTS and want to be able to search a group of DTS
packages for a specific string which in this case if a piece of SQL. The dts
file appears to be stored in some encrypted form and I cant find any search
tool on the menu. Does anyone know how to do this ?
Thanks in advance
Andy

Andy,
There is a free tool which allows you to create a report on all of your
dts packages and scheduled jobs and you can even search on it once you
dump it out to a text file. Do a search on SQL Insider in google and it
should direct you to the website.

Jules,
Thanks for the reply. I have downloaded this tool and whilst it does do a
couple of things that Enterprise manager does not do , it is still not doing
what I want which is to search the SQL code inside the packages. Does anyone
know a way of doing that ?
Thanks
Andy

Andy,
If your dts packages are scheduled jobs, there is a feature in sql
insider which will search for scripts in scheduled jobs. Click on
"Features/script Explorer/jobs" This will script out all scripts and
you can dump it to query analyzer and search from there.
