Default Scheduling in DTS - 01-23-2004 , 10:36 PM

I am new to DTS, and I want to use DTS to schedule a simple task: every 1
hour, insert a record (empid, name) to the database. I just try to get a
feel how DTS scheduling works.

For example,
1001, E1
1002, E2
1003, E3
//etc...

I open Enterprise Manager, and click DTS, and right click Local Packages |
New Package

And on the right hand side, I click MS-SQL connection icon, and select the
MS-SQL database. And then I click Execute SQL Task, all I can is to enter
SQL statement, but how about the timing??

DTS has nothing to do with the timing. SQL Server Agent does the scheduling

Easiest way?

Build your package and save t.

Now right click on the package and click "Schedule Package"

The dialog there will help you decide the schedule.
If you then go to your SQL Server Agent jobs section and refresh you should
see the job appear there.
