Default Recommendation - DTS? Linked Servers? HTTP upload? Other? - 09-01-2003 , 06:03 PM

Hoping for a recommendation which method and a few quick
reasons why it may be preferred.

Situation:
Server - SQL2K
Remote Client - A 32-bit Windows, untrusted (the two
machines not members of the same Domain) connection across
a WAN (Internet) to the SQL Server

Objective:
Upload 4 flat files (delimited)
Import to SQL Server
Parse flat files and transform data
Would prefer that the process can be initiated on the
Client machine

Would prefer an SSL (or similar) solution where connection
is secured in one step, but can be executed across a VPN.
In any case, the client machine cannot be joined to the
Windows Domain where the SQL Server resides.

TIA.

Add the additional objective:

Flat file is to be parsed and prefer to use stored
procedures to import and transformed into various tables.

TIA.
