The hotfixes and SP could be an issue (I have heard a slow down from
someone else). Remember though that the package when you execute in a
job and in BIDs on your PC will be executing in 2 completely different
places.

when I run a dtsx package through Business Intelligence Studio it takes
1
second to run... when I deploy the package to my sql server and right

to run the package it takes 1 second.

But when I run the package through a job OR use the xp command shell to
run
the dtsx package it takes 2minutes.

What is going on.... why would the package run so fast in the Business
Intelligence Studio yet so extremely slow through a JOB.

After I installed SP1 it got bad, but after I installed all the
hotfixes,
it's just become unbearable.

Thanks Allan, Question. Is there a way to get the job to execute in
the same place that the BIDs do.
When you run these in Business Studio they are running on YOUR PC. When run
from an Agent job they run on the PC where SQL Server is installed.

Do you perhaps have a faster PC than the server?

If you go to the server and execute the package interactively through a
job and it is lightning fast and you then schedule the package and it is
slow then you have negated the server as being an issue.

Where exactly is it costing you time? Can you narrow it down to a
particular part of the package?

The BIDs and the SQL Server Agent are both on the same PC as of now....

What extra steps is the job taking???... because if I am in the SQL
server
and I right click the stored package to run it, it runs just as fast as
if I
ran it through BIDS, but when I set it up through a job, it takes
forever to
run.
