What is it you have from the directory? If you had backups,
you can restore those. If it's just mdf, ldf you can try
attaching.
I know some people have said they turn off the service,
replace all the mdfs and ldfs with the ones from the other
server and restarted without any problems. Makes me nervous
to think about doing it this way but you could try that
approach if it won't leave you in a terrible position if it
doesn't work.

I had a hard drive problem, but had a copy of the SQL7

cannot successfully import the SQL 7 Databases to the new
install. Can you help.

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for the information. The .mdf and .ldf files were
copied to a CD along with the SQL7 directory and all file
contained within. I also attempted the stop services and
copy .ldf and .mdf files and restart, but I had an
authentication issue. I have heard that SQL2000 has an
attach database function. This may be an easier solution
to get back on track unless you have any other ideas.

Thanks

You can attach databases files using sp_attach_db. It's
available in SQL Server 7 (as well as 2000). You can find
more information in books online.
