Hi,

During the last seven days a set of DTS packages have started failing.
Re-running the jobs will often get them through. Nothing has changed
on the box that I am aware of and the size of the files has not
increased dramatically.

System config is:

SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition SP3.

The error from the Package Logs is as follows:

Step Error Source: Microsoft Data Transformation Services Flat File
Rowset Provider
Step Error Description:Error creating file mapping view: Insufficient
system resources exist to complete the requested service.

Step Error code: 80074005
Step Error Help FileTSFFile.hlp
Step Error Help Context ID:0

Has anybody come across this one?

Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

M

Allan,

Unfortunately, the problem is not reproducible, today the jobs ran
without a hitch. Indeed, when the job does fail, merely re-running it
is sufficient.
Furthermore, when the jobs do abend they are not abending in the same
steps within the code.

Having read the article you suggest I'm not sure it's the same issue,
the jobs are scheduled to run on the server and the server is
reasonably speced for the task:

Server config:

Win2000 Advanced Server
SQL server 2000 EE SP3
7GB RAM
4 Processors

Files being processed by DTS jobs:

Largest File is 113MB in size with 9 more being an average of 50MB
Smallest File is 1K.
Each file is mapped one-to-one with a staging table.

The intention now is to continue monitoring the box and jobs.

Thanks for your suggestion.

regards,

M.
