Default Package execution canceled by user? - 05-17-2004 , 04:26 AM

Hi

I have collected several packages into a few overall ones to make process excution easier. All works very well except for one package that runs smoothly when executed by itself or step by step but it doesn't complete when run from within an overall package. I keep getting the Error message "Execution canceled by user", although I do nothing of the sort. I have tried tracing where the execution halts, but can't seem to find anything wrong with it
First the package collects data from several tables into 2, these get transformed and calculated and merged into one which then gets sent to a networkdirectory in a texfile.
Standalone all works smoothly, but from within another package it stops. All the other packages that do something similar run OK

Any clue on where to look for mistakes/solutions

Greetings and any help appreciated

Francis Lessman

I am running into the same problem (I have many children pkgs called from a single parent pkg and I get this error when I execute the parent pkg. Unfortunatey, the error is not consistent - goes away and comes back!)

There is a bug in DTS (SS2K), acknowledged by MS, with the error msg you desribe

MS has a couple of work-arounds for Exe of DTS pkgs in a VB App

HTH. Let me know how you go..

Hello,

Did you find a way to solve the problem? I got exactly the same problem as you did. The work around from MS is for VB App calling DTS pkg, which does not apply my case. I am simply calling many children pkgs from a parent pkg.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
