Default Number Length of Columns - 11-14-2003 , 03:44 PM

I am trying to export data from SQL server to a text file
with a certain format.

The issues are
1. DTS design view does not allow me to insert columns
manually. The list of columns can only populated from
source. While I only need to populate certain fields in
the targeted file format.

2. Now I first create a dummy query just in order to
populate the target columns. The format has about 40
collumns. Problem comes as when I hit "execute" button to
save the list, all columns dispear. When I click "Define
Column" botton, Management Consule crashed. 100%
duplicable. I played around and found that if I change
the column names to short ones. It can be saved. But
whoever wants to have "a", "b" ... as column names? It
would be a maintainance nightmare later on.

Any one had the similiar problem?
