Default New DTSrun on SQL Server 7 - 04-16-2004 , 03:04 PM

Is it possible to install the new DTSRun.exe on an old SQL Server 7?
I have SQL server 2000 as well and have created packages with the new
client. When I try to run them on the old server, the error invalid
switch for /A comes up for the global variable paramater.

Thank you,
Lon

You could probably register all the 2000 dlls on the 7 server. Never tried
it and it smacks of being dangerous although i see no reason why. Why not
upgrade the other box to 2000?

/A was introduced in v2000

I chickened out. The SQL 7 is clustered. When I stuck the SQL 2000
CD in, the instructions required breaking the cluster during the
update.

Thank you anyway,
Lon

....but if you do upgrade to SQL 2000, you'll never need to un-cluster
again, not like you used to in 7.0 to do patches or similar. SQL 2000 is
more cluster friendly.

Still, not something to do just because you're feeling bored today
