Default moving to a new server - 12-02-2003 , 01:00 PM

I want to move my sql server 2000 to new hardware with the same name. In
particular, i have to move the DTS packages (and there are a lot of them).
I have tried looking this up on microsoft, but haven't found the proper
article yet.

Is it possible to give the new server a new name, use the copy database
wizard, take down the old server, reset the server account in AD, and then
rename the new server? Will that move all the DTS packages?

thanks

DTS packages are in general stored in MSDB. The only things of concern are
the connection names. If they match the new server name then you should be
OK.

Hi, you can use DTSBackup 2000 to save all your DTS Package in the old
Server and later load in the new Server, you can find it here:

Thank.
