Default MMC.exe Entry Point Not Found - 04-18-2006 , 09:34 AM

Hello,
After patching a Windows2k3 server (terminal server/app server/SQL tools)
with SP1 and ALL criticals and SP4 for the SQL tools we are getting the
following errors when a DTS Package is even opened in Design Package mode
when we are pointing to the SQL(2K) server:

MMC.EXE - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point RegDeleteKeyI could not be located in the Dynamic
Link Library MSDART.DLL
-then we get the dialog:
DTS Designer Error
The specified procedure could not be found
-Then we get this one:
Package Error
Error Source: Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Package
Error Description: The DTS hot failed to load or save the package properly.
-then:
DTS Designer Error
The selected package cannot be opened. The DTS Designer has been closed.

Ok, now it worked before I applied SP1 and all the other criticals.
We have another W2K3 server that is very similar and it still works
correctly and it has SP1 and some other criticals, but not all.
I've tried comparing MDAC, same. Installed MMC 3.0, more verbose messages,
but not a solution. I compared the MSDART files and they are identical.
I'm considering removing critical patches until it matches the server that
does work, but I hate taking patches off. I'd also hate to restore from last
week backup pre all the updates. Perhaps reinstalling the client tools, but
at this point I'm shooting in the dark.

Well, after ripping out several patches, reinstalling MDAC, reinstalling the
2k client tools for SQL and it all failing I uninstalled SP1 for W2K3 server
and it works again.
Joy! So, now we're back to being behind in patching. At least if anyone
has this problem they may find this solution (uninstalling sp1) and maybe it
will help them too. Thanks to all you folks who did not reply for
days...(sarcasm)
