Default How to open sql 2000 DTS package in sql 7? - 08-02-2005 , 05:23 PM

Hi All,

Our partner created a DTS package in sql 2000. However, we are still
running sql 7 and can't upgrade in the short term. Is there anyway to
open that DTS package in sql 7 or somehow "save" the package in sql
2000 as a sql 7 version?

Or is this mission impossible?

Thanks,
bluemug

So long as you have SP3 on the 7 box and the 2000 package is not using 2000
only tasks.

if you do not have SP3 then make sure you save the 2000 package with a
password

There is also a Developer edition of SQL 2000 for $50 that may be worth
considering if you absolutely need to get at that package. It would at least
let you open it to see what's in there, even though you couldn't legally
develop something with it.

Allan's suggestion below is better overall, but this may be another option for
you...
