Default How to move local DTS Package file to database server? - 08-15-2006 , 03:53 AM

Hi,

I’ve created DTS Package in my local machine for development purpose

Now I’ve finished the development phase, I want to copy the file to the database server -- How should I do it?

I have tried “Save As” – but from the server when I open the package file, I received msg as following:

“The system cannot find the file specified”

Help please!

TIA

Regards

Making some assumptions...

It sounds like the Save As worked. Does the package show up in the
Enterprise Manager under Local Packages for the production server?

Does your DTS package load data from a file? Where is the file on your
local machine? Is the file in the exact same path on the server?

Let us know if this is heading in the right direction.

Norman

get DTS Package Search at http://www.gerasus.com/

Thank you both for the reply...

Dear Norman,

Does the package show up in the Enterprise Manager under Local Packages for the production server? -- Yes

Does your DTS package load data from a file? – Yes (MS Access)

Where is the file on your local machine? -- d:\foldername\

Is the file in the exact same path on the server? – Yes

###

Dear Allan,

I assume this is how to check the service pack: EM->Help->About.. it said as following:

Microsoft(r) Management Console 1.2
Ver 5.0 (build 2195: service pack 4)

My local & server "About" info are the same -- am I still having the compatibility problems?

###

I try to re-create the package file in the server using 2 difference techniques – by wizard and manual – both give a difference result!

Recreate using Import data wizard: the testing was successful import the data from MS Access to SQL Server

Recreate using Import data manual: I receive error when create MS Access connection, the error is:

Package Error
Error Source: MS Jet Database Engine
Error Desc: Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available no work was done.

When I check the ms access connection ->properties->advance for in the both package file, I found in the numbers are difference.

I try to change and save the manually-made connection->properties->advance to be the same as wizard -- some how it return back to the old value.

What I have done wrong?

Help pls!
