Default How to move DTS packages in Development server to Production - scripting - 07-06-2005 , 06:20 PM

We are changing current DTS packages in Development or building new
ones in Development.

The only way I have realised to move DTS packages from Development to
Production is by saving them into structured storage files and
uploading and saving it into Metadata on the production Server. But
then I need to manually redo all connections to the source or target in
production server and then I make another change in development I need
to redo this again.

Is there a better way of doing this ? Please help
Can we have the system automate the source to target mapping, scripting
the package,etc.

Thanks
Karen

Have a look here

Transferring DTS Packages
(http://www.sqldts.com/default.aspx?204)

You should also build packages with "transportability" in mind. You can, in
2000, use the Dynamic Properties task or a hos tof other methods to do this.
