Default how do I globally change the database connection - 02-25-2005 , 12:49 PM

Hi,

I have created a DTS package that I am running from our SQL server. It
works really well however I would like to be able to rename the both the
starting Visual FoxPro Database (importing from) and the destination SQL
database (importing to) globally. This way I could move the DTS file to a
clients server easily and run the import process there. However, I am just
unsuccessful at this unless I create a VB file which I don't want to do. I
really like the SQL / DTS package tools and find it pretty easy to utilize.

Any assistance would be really appreciated, I have about 260 tables and 250
different customers that I will be doing this with over the next year.
There must be an easier approach that my current methods.

Thanks,

Chris

You can use UDL files to set the connection properties. Use "Microsoft Data
link" connections in your DTS packages, and check "always read properties
from UDL file".

Default how do I globally change the database connection - Really! - 04-17-2006 , 02:00 PM

That's great info about the UDL file but how bout the original question?
How to change a connection. Since you suggested UDL connections how can we change all of connection 1 (Server Connection) to connection 3 (UDL connection).

hi,
What do you mean by that? For example, I can see the contents of any
connection using dtspkg.dll and Visual Basic.
I also can change the credentials of three or n connections if they were
copied from the first one.
