Default Hipaa 834 - 03-25-2008 , 10:14 AM

I have been assigned to get an EDI written for enrollment of health insurance
from my HR system to a major insurance carrier; in fact, I need to create
about 5 Hipaa 834 files for other insurance companies too. They want me to
send them data in a HIPAA 834 file format which I believe is in XML.

Has anyone developed a hipaa solution through SSIS?

I can see that there is a BizTalk way of going at this but before I ask my
supervisor for a huge chunk of cash, I want to exhaust my existing options
and SSIS is my favorite one.

Any advice?

its not even close to xml
here is an example of the format:

ST*834*0001~BGN*00*1234*20001227*838*PT***2~N1*P5* *F1*954529603~INS*Y*18*021*28*A*E**FT~REF*0F*12345 6789~REF*1

N*STEVE****XX*1234567891*25~SE*17*0001~

no CR/LF, tons of rules and it wouldn't be much fun.
easist solution would be to purchase software to do the converting for you

I had the 'joy' of converting NSF2.01 to 837/835 [sending/receiving]. Have
fun
