Default Help with "Send Mail Configuration" - 11-01-2004 , 01:23 PM

I inherited a server where some jobs have a dts step that uses "Send Mail
Task" to send an email. It appears to require a Profile and password to send
the email. The only profile name that appears is "Outlook". The PW is
blank. These steps, however, do not successfully send the email so I am
suspicious because I see this error:
MAPI Error 273 : Mapi logon failed.

I have no experience with this, but I suspect that the Profile and PW have
to represent a valid Outlook user in our domain. Is that true? Where does
this "Profile" get created? Who does it?

Thanks,

Michael

The profile is the MAPI profile. The name of the profile is set in the task.
Note that profiles are specifci to a user account, so I have a profiel on my
machine for me, but when I schedule the package it runs on the server using
the profile created under teh SQL Server agent service account. Make sure
you log onto the relevent machien using the correct account to check the
profile.
