Yuriy:

You may need a Multi Cast and a Script transform on one leg. The script
would read just the MAX_Col1 value from the first row and assign it to a
variable.

Check out the book "Rational Guide to Scripting SSIS" (about 120 pages, $15
or so from Amazon). I think it can be done but don't have a copy of the book
anymore.
