Default general network error, but not for all tasks? - 07-12-2005 , 10:22 AM

Hi,

I have a custom program which create an in memory DTS package.
The program works fine and has been deployed in several computers.

But on 1 computer I receive a general network error when I write the table
in the destination (which is SQL Server)
this error appear on some tables, but not all tables.

What can I do to have a better diagnostic?

thanks.

Jerome.

Jerome, Perhaps you could use a software packet sniffer to look at what the
TCP-IP protocol is doing (i.e retransmitting, missed acknowledgments, etc)
when you
receive the network error. I can give you the name of one or two if you are
interested.

I have limited diagnostic utilities from my server.
And I have no access to the client station where the DTS is started.

Can I do something like an option or configuration to setup to bypass this
problem?

Jerome, Could you provide the network error message you are experiencing?
FYI, there is a good open source packet sniffer at www.ethereal.com. This is
a long shot but maybe your network engineers could install it for you on your
client(DTS) computer for a short time. Thank you
