Default Export to DBASE III - Could not update; currently locked - 04-22-2005 , 04:26 AM

Hello, All!

At time of exporting to DBASE III through DTS I get this error:

Could not update; currently locked

Package fills several small DBase III tables first, then insert all records
from small tables into the main table. At time of main table population this
error raised. Table has 500000 rows and 50 columns.

I explore several messages that concerned with this problem:

http://groups.google.com.ua/groups?h...TK2MSFTNG P12
http://groups.google.com.ua/groups?h...G P11.phx.gbl
http://groups.google.com.ua/groups?s...&output=gplain

Exact match (I can export only 255Mb too):
http://groups.google.com.ua/groups?s...&output=gplain

As I can see, this problem known since 2002 year and there is no workaround
or fix for this. I can't utilize DBase IV because my clients require DBase
III. (But with DBase IV package works fine).

Maybe I miss something and there are decision for this?

With best regards, Alexander Sinitsin. E-mail: al_sin[dog]ukr.net

Well, sad to say, but there is no legal decision from Microsoft. To get
DBaseIII works well, you need install Borland BDE!!!
After BDE 5.0.1 installation package works well and produce files great than
255Mb. And support long names also.
So, if you want to be happy with Microsoft, pay some money to Borland (BDE
is not free for now).

References:
Q263561: The new ISAM drivers load and use the BDE if it exists on the
computer, but functionality comparable to the Jet 3.51 ISAM is available if
the BDE is not loaded

Q230125: The dBASE ISAM only supports the 8.3 naming convention as in
earlier version of Microsoft Access
