Default Error when importing flat file in SSIS - 04-13-2006 , 01:23 PM

I'm trying to import a flat file using Integration Services. I'm getting a
weird error when creating a new connection using Connection Manager.

Error Message: "The field, Header rows to skip, does not contain a valid
numeric value"

My file does not have any header rows to skip, so I want to set this
parameter to zero, but it says that 0 is invalid numeric value.

If I create a header in my file and set to "Header rows to skip" to 1, it
skips 2 rows instead of 1. It seems that I'm always missing a row, no matter
what.

But I tested in other PCs and it worked fine, only in mine that does not work.

I already uninstalled and re-installed the software... and no luck so far..

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Ercilia

Hi,

I experienced this problem a few weeks ago. Reinstall wasn't necessary
to fix it when it happened to me. Unfortunately, I don't remember how
I resolved the issue.

I suggest you check the structure of the source data store flat file
very carefully, if the test flat file is specific to your computer.

You don't say whether or not this occurs on multiple flat files.

Also, I suggest you check carefully all the values on the General pane
of the Flat File Connection Manager you are using.

I tried to load the exactly same file using other PCs and it worked fine. So,
I am assuming that the file is OK.

I'm having the same issue with other files as well.. It seems that the "Flat
File Source" does not work for me...

Loading from Excel or Access are working perfectly.

Thanks for your reply.
