Default Embedded SSIS in applications / Deployment - 03-16-2006 , 01:38 PM

Hi gang,

I was at the PDC and they had a session on embedding SSIS in applications...
However, I have not been able to find the licencing requirements for
deploying SSIS. Does anyone know where I can find this info? Can I deploy
SSIS separate from SqlServer? Which DLL's shoud I deploy/register? Can
anyone point me in the right direction?

TIA,
--Ader.

Hello gonzalez,

SSIS can indeed be installed away from SQL Server. SSIS is now a server
component and therefore you need a SQL Server licence for an install of SSIS.

Thank you Allan,

I'm considering using it to import data on client (desktop) applications,
and currently we're using MSDE, but we plan in replacing it w/SqlExpress.
Do I still need a server licence to use SSIS with Sql Express?

Thank again,

Hello A. Gonzalez,

The only thing that comes with Express is the Import Export wizard. If you
want to use SSIS proper then you will need to buy a server licence.
