Hi James, Thanks for your posting! From your descriptions, I understood your scheduled DTS package will be failed with the error message 'An attempt was made to access an illegal instruction' randomly. If I have misunderstood your concern, please feel free to point it out. First of all, please understand that we may be unable to resolve your issue without reviewing the memory dump file. If this is the case, then we will need to refer you to Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS)s to pursue this issue, as such in depth review is outside the scope of these newsgroups. For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Service and Support phone numbers, please go to the following address on the World Wide Web: http://support.microsoft.com/directory/overview.asp If you are outside the US please see http://support.microsoft.com for regional support phone numbers. For now, I believe there might be two possible causes for this issue. 1. Please make sure you have upgraded to IE 6.0 in that SQL 7.0 machine, please read the Knowledge Base article below, which described this scenario detailedly FIX: IE 5.0 Hinders SQL Server 7.0 Wizards and Tabbed Dialogs on Windows 95 or 98 Computers http://support.microsoft.com/kb/225084 2. This illegal instruction suggests service control manager GUI (MMC) error instead of SQL Server itself. How often will it occur? Will some specific condition 'trigger' this error message out? Please reinstall SQL Server Client Tools to see whether it will help. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to let me know. We are always here to be of assistance! Sincerely yours, Michael Cheng Microsoft Online Partner Support When responding to posts, please "Reply to Group" via your newsreader so that others may learn and benefit from your issue. ================================================== === This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. |
