i got two sql-servers (differents between them: german and engl. OS)
On both servers i got identical dts-packages. The last step in some packages
is an activextask.
The packages are started by night with the dtsrun-command from a job by
sqlserver-agent.
On the german os anything works fine, but on the engl. OS the packages who
contains the activextask wont stop. They do what they should do in the
activextask but after it the package "hangs".

any suggests?

May be the package, may also be the agent service. We have jobs
(maintenance jobs) on sql7 that irregularly hang. I have seen the hanging
jobs starting but not doing anything, my colleague saw them starting, doing
what they are supposed to do, and then not ending. Posting on
sqlserver.server did not draw any meaningful response.

Try this:

Right click on the ActiveX control and selct Workflow from the menu. Then
Workflow properties. On the Options tab enable Execute on main package
thread.

That may resolve the problem.
