Default DTS Tasks not there??? - 06-23-2008 , 09:29 AM

Hello All,

I have a problem with a clients station, and don't really know enough about
SQL server.

Here's the issue.

I would attach a screenshot, but can't seem to find that option here...
When the user goes into "Data Transformation services", then into "Meta Data
Services Packages", goes into a package... On the left side, there's a tab
that says "Tasks", right under "Connection"... The problem is there is
nothing under the Tasks tab, it's just blank.

Any ideas on how to get this back???

Some Background: OS=Windows 2000, SQL=SQL server 2000. There are tonns of
other packages installed on this PC, so I'm wondering if something might be
conflicting? I've tried re-installing SQL Server, but same problem. I
installed the SQL server package on another station, and it worked fine, so
the install package is fine... Please help.

Thanks

Hi Brian,
the tabs Connection, tasks, etc. are "dockable" like windows taskbar,
address bar below on your desktop.
Do you have the menu bar with the following. Package, Edit,
Connection, Task, Workflow?
If yes, I believe you should see the tasks in the Task menu?
If not try do right-click on the white area of the window (where
normally you create and concatenate your own tasks), should show aa
popup menu. There you should have various items including:
- Add Task... (the first item) should show a popup with the tasks list
- Task Bar a boolean command that should allow you to show the task
bar

Other ideas: you performed a reinstallation but you didn't install
Data trasformation services...?

Bye
M.
