Default DTS : SQL2k to Oracle9i on AIX - 05-25-2004 , 12:25 AM

Hi All,

We have requirement to transfer data from SQL Server 2000 to Oracle 9i in
AIX machine.
We plan to use DTS to do this.
Have any body tried this ? how to connect to Oracle 9i on AIX, using ODBC ?
Is thrre any known issue here ?

Thanks for your help,
Trist

You'll need to install the Oracle client on the SQLServer
machine. Then use that driver. Shouldn't be a problem.
There are datatype differences between Oracle and
SQLServer that you'll need to be aware of. Check the
books on-line under Oracle.

Yep

Use the Oracle drivers for the Oracle connection not the MS Supplied one.

There are also some good articles re moving from Oracle to SQL Server on the
MS Site and the following is one

Hi,
Is the fact that the Oracle 9i resides on other platform (UNIX, LINUX) cause
any problems here ?

Thank you,
Trist

Shouldn't be. So long as you can connect that should be that.
