Default DTS package failure when run under a scheduled job - 01-21-2004 , 01:35 AM

Hi,

We are trying to execute a dts package as a job. The package excecutes fine
when run manually, however fails when run under a job. All our tests have
been done on the physical server itself.

Here is the resulting error:

-------------------
DTSRun: Loading...
DTSRun: Executing...
DTSRun OnStart: DTSStep_DTSExecuteSQLTask_1
DTSRun OnFinish: DTSStep_DTSExecuteSQLTask_1
DTSRun OnStart: DTSStep_DTSDataPumpTask_1
DTSRun OnError: DTSStep_DTSDataPumpTask_1, Error = -2146959361 (8007FFFF)
Error string: Catastrophic failure
Error source: Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Package
Help file: sqldts80.hlp
Help context: 4700

Error Detail Records:

Error: -2146959361 (8007FFFF);
Provider Error: 0 (0)
Error string: Catastrophic failure
Error source: Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Package
Help file: sqldts80.hlp
Help context: 4700
DTSRun OnFinish: DTSStep_DTSDataPumpTask_1
DTSRun: Package execution complete. Process Exit Code 1.
The step failed.
-----------------------

Would anyone know what is going on? Yes, I have looked at the kb article:
269074.

Here are the specifics of the setup:

The job is owned by a windows NT autheticated login account that is a member
of the Sysadmin role.
The SQL Agent service is run as a local system account.

We have tried rebooting the server, but that hasnt helped.

Any help most appreciated!

Cheers,
James

The problem looks to be with

DTSStep_DTSDataPumpTask_1

Can you disable this task and rerun the package successfully?
Only when scheduled does this happen?
What does DTSStep_DTSDataPumpTask_1 do exactly?
Ever worked?
