Default DTS package disappearing - 04-21-2005 , 03:42 PM

I'm running SQL Server Developer Edition on Windows 2003 Server Enterprise.
When I create a DTS package and save it, it does not show up as a package.
I try to save it as a local package on the server, and also as a DTS file
but the packages do not stay visible in Enterprise manager. If I save it as
a file then the file does actually save to the drive, but I have no way of
retrieving the info.

Help / suggestions would be appreciated. I'm not able to find any info on
this issue.

Thanks!

Why can you not right click on the Data Transformation Services folder and select Open Package?

That of course does not address the problem of why your packages disappear in EM.

What SP of SQL Server?

Are you saving to the server at which you are also looking i.e. you have not saved them to another server.

Hello,

When you create a new package and then save it, you have the option to save
the DTS package to SQL server, Meta Data Services, a structured storage
file, or a Visual Basic file.

If you save it to SQL server, you also need to select which SQL server you
want to save the package. Please make sure you have selected the exact SQL
server instance. After saving it, you can open the package in SQL
Enterprise manager(EM).

To open structured storage file, you can right-click "Data Transformation
Services", and then click "Open Package". For more information, refer to
the "How to open a DTS package saved to a structured storage file
(Enterprise Manager)" topic in SQL BOL.

I hope the information is helpful.

Thanks for the help guys. Been so long since I dealt with this I had
forgotten about the right click to open. Hehe - I feel pretty dumb right
now ;-)

Still doesn't explain why it isn't showing up in Enterprise Manager, but I'm
not going to worry about it.
