I have a dts package which contains several steps, Is there any way I can
view what exactly each step does---the code for each step?

I am not sure what you want to see.

If you use DTS Designer you can see the steps and therefore can see what
the step does.

How are you wanting to view what the step does.?

Yes you can see what the task will actually do this way. If you want to
know how to build the package through code then you can save the package
out as a VB File
