Default DTS help please - 10-04-2004 , 05:10 AM

I have a DTS package which transfers information from a dbase file into a SQL
table and this worked fine until I installed SP2 for XP onto my PC. I can now
no longer do transfers from dbase file, excel files and even from access
databses.

Has anyone seen this problem and do you know how I can fix this problem?

Thanks

Hazel

And what are the errors?

Are they security related?

Hi Allan,

Before I installed SP2 for XP when I created a new package I could choose
from the following connection options:
Microsofr OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Microsoft Access
Microsoft Excel
dbase 5
HTML File
Paradox 5.x
Text File source
Text File destination
Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle
Microsoft Data Link
Other Connection

Now the only connection options I get are:
Microsofr OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Text File source
Text File destination
Microsoft Data Link
Other Connection

Have you tried reinstalling MDAC?

No I haven't. Would I be best to take the latest update from the web and
install that?

In dev yes.

MDAC is no different from anything else and should be tested accordingley.

Thank you for that advise.

Unfortunately I still cannot do transfers from Access, excel or dbase
sources.

I've tried installing the latest version of MDAC and I've even uninstalled
and re-installed SQL server to see if that would help.

I you have any other ideas that would be worth try I would be greatful.

Thanks

Hazel
