Default DTS ftp - 02-09-2005 , 04:57 PM

I want to get a file via ftp. Using the ftp control I connect to the remote
server how ever I can not specify the file, because I can not change to the
directory I need. The directory does not show up in the file list. The
directory is hidden. How can I download the file? I can't unhide the
directory on the mainframe because of security policies.

You will need to set the folder manually through the Disconnected Edit
feature, see Package menu. Find your FTP task, and set the
SourceFilename property. For more info in this property and the format,
look it up in the BOL index.

I can't seem to get the syntax correct; In the sourceFilename property I put

'COURSE';'EIP.DOWNLD.';'';
'EIP.DOWNLD.COURSE';'';'';
'COURSE';'EIP.DOWNLD';'';

none of them worked.

the command in ftp is
get 'eip.downld.course' c:\course.txt
This is on an IBM mvs; The tick marks around the filename are required or
the ibm doesn't use the absoulte path.

I would guess that you want 'EIP.DOWNLD.COURSE';'';''; but maybe it still
needs those quotes, but since I don't understand why I can't really say. The
fallback is to use ftp.exe and a ftp command script file through the Exec
Process Task.

Can you access and retrieve this file via FTP.EXE? What steps do you take
to do so?
