Default DTS: Exporting data to an Access2 DB - 07-20-2004 , 06:22 AM

I need to export some data to an Access2 DB.

I have built a DTS package using the default JET4.0 OLEDB drivers, and it
works how I want it to.

Can I modify this package to create an Access2 compatible format DB?

Are there any separate OLEDB/ODBC driver I can install that will allow me to
do this?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

Based on your descriptions, I understood that you would like to export data
to Access2 DB. Have I understood you?

However, I am not sure why you want to modify the package, would you please
so kind as to show me a scenario? Also, I am not very sure about separate
OLEDB/ODBC, I am afraid so such separate driver available.

Data Transformation Services (DTS) is a set of graphical tools and
programmable objects that lets you extract, transform, and consolidate data
from disparate sources into single or multiple destinations.

A DTS package is an organized collection of connections, DTS tasks, DTS
transformations, and workflow constraints assembled either with a DTS tool
or programmatically and saved to SQL Server 2000 Meta Data Services, a
structured storage file, or a Microsoft Visual Basic file.

Each package contains one or more steps that are executed sequentially or
in parallel when the package is run. When executed, the package connects to
the correct data sources, copies data and database objects, transforms
data, and notifies other users or processes of events. Packages can be
edited, password protected, scheduled for execution, and retrieved by
version.

I am afraid you could not modify the package to create Access 2 compatible
database.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions or
concerns, don't hesitate to let me know. We are here to be of assistance!

Sincerely yours,

Mingqing Cheng
