Default DTS Designing Error - 11-03-2003 , 01:33 PM

On SQL Server 2000, when I first go to DTS/Local Packages/New Package, I get
a popup message "DTS Designing Error". Within the package, I created an
Oracle/ODBC connection. Created a connection to the local SQL Server.
Attemped numerous times to create a transformation data task from the Oracle
to the SQL Server. The black transformation data task arrow never appeared.

What is the exact error ?
Can you test the Orace connection Successfully? Likewise the SQL Server
connection.
When exactly does it happen ?

There are two indications of an error condition. They may be related.
Again the first is the popup message "DTS Designing Error". That happens
right wen I first open a new package.

The second indication is when I attempt to create the transformation data
task. I select the source and then I select the destination but after that
nothing happes.

I am able to see data objects on the Oracle connection and the SQL Server
connection.

It sounds as though maybe DTS has been trodden on. I would try
reregistering the DTS dlls and maybe a reinstall of MDAC

Redistributing DTS with your program
