Default DTS Designer Error in the DLL - 07-19-2004 , 08:51 AM

I have SQL Server 2000 installed on a server that has
WindowsServer 2003 installed. When I try to open DTS
Designer, I get an error window that opens. The title for
the window is "DTS Designer Error". The error message
is "Error in the DLL".

Has anyone run across this problem? If so, how has it
been fixed?

Thanks in advance,
Scott L.

Have you installed SP3 for SQL Server?

I have previously had this error and the way I got around it was to

A) Reregister the DTS dlls
B) Reinstall MDAC particularly manually reregistering msado15.dll.

Allan,
Thanks for replying so quickly.

Yes, SP3 is installed. What are the DTS dll's and how do
I reregister them? My network people which normally
handles the installs are not available right now (fighting
other fires).

Thanks in advance,
Scott

Allan,
I am very sure that DTS stopped working after the ODBC
drivers for IBM's AS/400 Client Access were installed.

I found out how to register the DLL's and I believe I
found a list of the DLL's on SQLDTS.com. I reregistered
the DLL's indicated on this webpage,
http://www.sqldts.com/default.aspx?t...&i=225&p=1&a=0.

I reinstalled MDAC 2.8 and reregistered the msado15.dll.

I am still getting the same error.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Scott Lindsey

I had this exact same problem with the exact same drivers. I reinstalled
the whole box in the end. I never did find the cause of these errors
although choosing different options did seem to make a difference. My guess
is you can still use Access to do it right? That was my experience.

Allan,
Did you still have the ODBC

drivers for IBM's AS/400 Client Access installed after
you reinstalled the whole box? If so, what was the
sequence that you installed the products?

Thanks again,
Scott

I did

SQL Server + SP
Drivers + Updates

I went through numerous setup configurations for the drivers and would you
believe on some boxes it worked.

I currently have it working on a SQL Server 2000, Windows 2000 box.
