Is it possible to do a DTS across domains? I have an old
NT domain where a SQL7 server is running a huge database.
I have now, in our Active Directory 2003 domain, a 2003
server running SQL2000. I need the old data in the new
database. If I go to DTS wizard, I don't see anyway of
getting to the other domain. I have not tried IP of the
old server, which I will do next but, does anyone know if
this is possible? If so, how and if not, what the best
way to get my old data to the new server?
Thanks Much!!! |
Assuming you have no firewalls or other restrictions in between then you
can certainly use the Ip to connect to another server, along with SQL
Server security. Windows Authentication can also be made to work through
the use of trusts and such like, but your will need to consult your
domain admins for this.
