Change Server Alias Client Network Utility

What would cause a DTS package when executed to change a
SQL Server Alias from NamedPipes to TCP/IP?

By change server alias I presume you mean one set up using
CliConfg?

This is installed with MDAC and as far as I know DTS could
not change this.

I take it you use the alias in the package and note the
Network driver before and after and presumably it changes
during that time?
