I created a UDL file and double clicked on it to get the Data Link properties
screen. I selected "Use data source name" and clicked the drop down. I
could not locate my server name in the drop down, so I typed it
in:UMDPSMB7V\SQLINSTANCE and clicked Test Connection.

I got the following error:

Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Datasource name not found and no default
driver specified.

How can I get the server to show up in the drop down ?
